The Silver Comet Trail is a twelve foot wide, concrete trail, five inches thick, and can be used by walkers, joggers, bikers,
hikers, skaters, horses [in some designated areas] and other non-motorized activities. The trail currently begins at the intersection
of the East-West Connector and South Cobb Drive in Symrna, Georgia and runs to the Georgia/Alabama state line in Polk County
where it joins into the Chief Ladiga Trail, which continues west to Anniston, Alabama. With the exception of approximately
two miles between Rockmart and Cedartown, the trail is complete and available for use. Since the trail is part of the "rails
to trails" project, the grade never exceeds 2% in Cobb and Paulding Counties, making it relatively easy no matter what type
of power you are using. However, when riding in Polk County, you will encounter some rolling hills with grades of between
5 – 6% between downtown Rockmart and the Martin Trailhead, which covers twenty miles of the thirty mile stretch of trail
in Polk County.
